Two entries for the poster design competition “START21ART”: Energy.

The first entry depicts a kiss through the lens of a thermal camera. The scene is framed by a massive typographic composition of the word ENERGY. In some variations, an additional description reads: “Around nine billion chemical reactions take place in every human cell every second. All powered by the same life energy.”

The second design, which won second place in Slovakia and the Czech Republic, reacts to our current situation, where the war in Ukraine and the pandemic continue to complicate livelihoods. Inspired by the tradition of satirical newspaper illustration, the entry depicts an emergency meeting of household appliances. The text bubble reads: “The energy costs have gone up again, and so we must decide on how to split the energy between us, appliances….”
